What inspectors found

From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 29 July 2026 (assessment visit 30 March 2026). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Caring @ Home Ltd is a homecare agency registered to provide support to people living in their own homes. The service supports people living with dementia, people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and sensory impairments. At the time of our assessment there were 15 people receiving a regulated service. We visited the service on 10 April 2026. This assessment was carried out in response to concerns that had been raised and to follow up on breaches identified at the previous inspection. We assessed the service against the principles of Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture to determine whether the provider ensured people with a learning disability and autistic people were supported with respect, equality, dignity, choice, independence, and access to their local communities.

We identified some inconsistencies affecting the safety, effectiveness, and governance of the service. Systems and processes were not always applied consistently, and governance arrangements required further strengthening, particularly in relation to recording, oversight, and accountability.

Risk management and care documentation would benefit from further development to ensure records were consistently detailed, accurate, and reflective of national guidance. Some staffing processes, including induction, competency assessments, and access to specialist training, also required strengthening to provide greater assurance regarding staff skills and competence.

Medicines management processes were in place; however, further work was needed to ensure guidance was consistently clear and that staff competencies were appropriately assessed and evidenced. Leadership and governance arrangements provided some oversight of the service, particularly during a period when the Registered Manager was absent and oversight responsibilities were undertaken by the Nominated Individual. However, these arrangements were not always effective in identifying shortfalls, monitoring performance, and driving continuous improvement.

There was no evidence that the concerns identified had resulted in harm to people using the service.

The provider did demonstrate some strengths. There was a clear person-centred approach to care, supported by a positive and collaborative staff culture. Staff understood people's needs and responded appropriately to changes in circumstances and emergency situations. Staff also spoke positively about management support and the culture within the service.

The service had made improvements since the previous inspection and was no longer in breach of the governance regulation.

We identified one breach of the legal requirement relating to safe care and treatment.

We have asked the provider to submit an action plan outlining how they will address the concerns identified during this assessment.
