About the service

From the Care Quality Commission's inspection report published 4 March 2023. Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Hales Group Limited - Hull is a domiciliary care agency providing care and support to people in their own home. At the time of inspection, the provider delivered services to 85 people. Not everyone who used the service received personal care. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided.

What inspectors found

We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. 'Right support, right care, right culture' is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it.

Read the rest of CQC's summary

Right Support: People were happy with the support they received and spoke positively about staff who provided their care. Staff wore personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately which helped to protect people from the risk of infection. Medicines were administered safely.

Right Care: Effective recruitment procedures were in place and there were enough staff employed to meet people's needs. Staff received regular training and supervision to provide care in a person-centred way. Risks to people's health, safety and well-being were effectively managed.

Right Culture: Support was personalised and based on people's assessed needs and preferences. Staff worked effectively with external professionals to ensure people received the support they wanted and needed. People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible. The policies and systems in the service supported this practice.

This was an 'inspection using remote technology'. This means we did not visit the office location and instead used technology such as electronic file sharing to gather information, and video and phone calls to engage with people using the service as part of this performance review and assessment.
