What inspectors found

From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 2 May 2025 (assessment visit 22 January 2025). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Purple Skilled Healthcare - Main Office is a domiciliary care agency registered to provide personal care to people living in their own homes. The service supported one person who received the regulated activity of personal care. CQC only inspect the service received by people provided with 'personal care'; help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do we also take into account any wider social care provided.

Assessment activity started 17 October 2024 and ended on 05 December 2024.

We assessed all the quality statements from the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions. The overall rating for the service is requires improvement. This service was registered with us on 26 July 2022, and this is their first assessment.

This assessment was prompted in part by concerns about the provider’s current staffing arrangements of this service. There was a registered manager in post at the time of this assessment. During this assessment, we found three breaches of regulation in relation to safe care and treatment, fit and proper persons employed and governance. We have asked the registered manager for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment. Improvements were required in relation to risk assessments, call monitoring, recruitment and record keeping. However, people spoke positively about the service they received. Appropriate infection control practices were in place. There was a process in place to respond to safeguarding and accident and incidents. Best practice was relayed to staff to improve the quality of service being provided. Staff felt supported by the registered manager. A complaints procedure was in place. During this assessment, we spoke with one person who received care and support, a staff member and the registered manager.

  1. Safe

    No rating

We identified two breaches of the legal regulations. Risk assessments were in place; however, some risks had either not been identified or records lacked information about maintaining people’s safety and risk of harm. An effective call monitoring system was not in place and recruitment processes were not operating effectively to ensure the suitability and competency of staff. People told us they felt safe using the service. Staff followed appropriate infection control practices. There was a process in place to respond to accident and incidents. Best practice was relayed to staff to improve the quality of service being provided.

  2. Effective

    Good

People’s care and support needs were assessed before they started using the service. Staff felt supported by the registered manager. People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice. People were supported to maintain a healthy diet and had access to health care professionals when they needed them.

  3. Caring

    Good

People's privacy, dignity and independence was promoted. People told us staff were kind and caring. Staff knew people's routines and preferences and were respectful of this. People’s equality and diversity needs were respected and met.

  4. Responsive

    Good

People spoke positively about the service. People received person centred care which met their needs and preferences. The service had a complaints procedure in place. No one at the service was receiving end of life care.

  5. Well-led

    No rating

We identified one breach of legal regulations. There were systems in place to assess and monitor the quality of the service provided. However, these systems were not sufficiently robust to identify that improvements were needed in relation to risk assessments, call monitoring, recruitment and governance. The service had not registered to support people with mental health conditions. The registered manager was available for people and staff when they were needed. The service worked with healthcare professionals and took the views of people and staff into account when delivering the service.
