This was a risk based responsive inspection. Information provided to CQC suggested people might be at risk or harm or poor care. We undertook this comprehensive inspection to assesses people’s safety and care.
The assessment found people were safe and protected from avoidable harm. However, some improvements were needed in the way the service was managed and to ensure care was consistently person-centred. Communication was not always effective and did not always meet people’s communication needs. Guidance from professional’s was not always implemented effectively. There was no registered manager appointed. Reporting was not always in line with requirements.
Care plans guided staff to deliver safe and effective support. There were enough staff to support people safely and safe recruitment processes were followed. The provider promoted a positive and inclusive culture, and staff were committed to improving people’s quality of life and care experiences. Staff told us they enjoyed working at the service and felt valued and respected by their employer.
We assessed the service in line with CQC’s ‘Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture’ guidance to judge whether people received respectful, dignified, and person-centred care that promoted their independence, choices, and inclusion in the community. The provider was working in line with national best practice guidance for supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people.
