What inspectors found

From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 26 August 2024 (assessment visit 16 April 2024). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Date of assessment 23 April to 12 August 2024. Fields Care Ltd provides personal care to people in their own homes. There were 72 people using the service when we carried out the assessment. The assessment was carried out by 1 assessor. During the assessment we contacted 15 people or their relatives, and 24 care staff for their feedback about the service. We looked at 6 quality statements and found people received a safe service, provided by trained, professional staff who had been appropriately vetted, and people were enabled to take acceptable risks. They were supported to maintain their independence, had choices regarding the service they received, and control. People had equitable experiences of the service provided, and outcomes. There was effective leadership, good governance, and monitoring systems. The rating remains good. For those areas and quality statements we did not assess, we used the ratings awarded at the last inspection to calculate the overall rating. We did not identify breaches of any Regulations during this assessment. We will continue to monitor information we receive about the service, which will help inform when we next assess them.

  1. Safe

    Good

A safe service was provided for people, and there enough appropriately recruited, and trained staff employed to meet their needs. This meant people were supported to live safely. Risks to people were assessed, monitored, and recorded, by the registered manager and staff when required. Accidents, incidents, and safeguarding concerns were reported, investigated, and recorded appropriately.

  2. Caring

    Good

People were encouraged, by staff to be independent and do things for themselves. They were supported to have choice and control and make decisions about how their support was provided. This promoted and improved their quality of life, self-worth, and confidence. People and their relatives told us staff gave good care and support in a friendly way, paying attention to small details that made all the difference.

  3. Responsive

    Good

The management team was responsive to people’s needs and assessed, reviewed, and appropriately adjusted their care plans as required. This included people’s communication needs. People received person-centred care from staff, were given choices, and encouraged to follow their routines, and interests. They were also encouraged to maintain social contact with friends to maintain their independence, and minimise social isolation.

  4. Well-led

    Good

The provider had a culture that was open, responsive, positive and the management structure was clearly set out. The provider’s vision and values were easy to understand, staff understood and followed them, and were aware of their responsibilities and accountability. Staff were prepared to raise concerns they may have with the provider and take responsibility for their own conduct. The quality of the service was regularly reviewed, and any required changes made to improve the care and support people received. This was conducted in a way that best suited people.
