What inspectors found

From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 24 July 2024 (assessment visit 25 April 2024). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Home Sweet Home Care Limited is a domiciliary care agency providing support with personal care to people living in their own homes, many of whom are older people. We carried out our on-site assessment on the 16 May 2024 and our assessment activity started on 12 May and ended on 12 June 2024. During our assessment we found many examples of good practice, including in relation to the care people received, keeping people safe, staff training and recruitment. However, we found shortfalls with staff timekeeping and that this had not been adequately addressed by the senior leadership team. This was a breach of Regulation 17 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.

  1. Safe

    Good

Systems were in place to protect people from the risk of abuse. Staff had undertaken training about safeguarding adults and understood their responsibility for reporting allegations of abuse. Risk assessments set out how to protect people from harm and people were involved in developing these assessments. However, staff were often late for calls and did not always stay for the full amount of time allocated.

  2. Caring

    Good

People told us staff were caring and that their independence, choice and control was promoted. Systems backed up this person-centred approach. Staff understood the importance of supporting people in a caring way and were able to explain how they did this.

  3. Responsive

    Good

People’s needs were met in relation to equality and diversity. People told us they received person-centred support. Staff told us they felt supported by the provider, for example through supervision and team meetings. Staff understood and promoted people’s rights.

  4. Well-led

    Good

We found the service was generally well-led. However, the provider had failed to effectivly identy and address shortfalls with staff timekeepinmg and punctuality, leading to late visits and some visits finshing early. This was a breach of Regulation 17 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.

The provider had good communications with people, relatives and staff and worked closely with other health and social care agencies to develop best practice and support people. Staff told us it was a good place to work and spoke positively about the senior leadership team. The provider promoted staff’s rights in regard to equality and diversity.
