We reviewed all quality statements in safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led at this assessment.
During this assessment, we found improvements were required to the provider’s governance arrangements. This is a breach of 1 legal requirement, good governance. The rating for the service has remained good overall.
During our inspection, feedback from people, relatives, health and social care professionals and staff was all positive about the service.
People felt the care and support provided by staff was caring, respectful and that it promoted their choice and independence. Care was provided by staff who they knew and who respected their wishes. Staff felt supported by the management of the service, this was provided through supervisions and team meetings, and all felt it was a nice place to work.
People’s care plans were person centred and contained important information about the person such as if they had a religion and any communication needs and if they used assistive technology.
The registered manager had a diverse workforce, and they supported staff with a flexible approach to their individual needs. Positive examples were provided of staff and the registered manager, where they had gone beyond the daily care and support provided to people.
However, during the inspection, we found improvements were needed to the provider’s quality assurance systems as they were not identifying shortfalls found during this inspection. For example, not all incidents and accidents were being collated within the provider’s monthly report, and improvements had not been identified to some people’s care planning information including their moving and handling guidance and risk assessments, their dietary information and their mental capacity documentation and assessments. Improvements were also needed to ensure staff received refresher training and that the provider was undertaking the recruitment of staff safely and within legal requirements.
We asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
