What inspectors found
From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 2 September 2024 (assessment visit 25 June 2024). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.
Fanshawe Avenue is a domiciliary care agency providing support with personal care to people living in their own homes, many of whom are older people. We carried out our on-site assessment on the 19 July 2024 and our assessment activity started on 10 July and ended on 2 August 2024. We found the service supported people in a way that was safe and person-centred around people’s needs. There were enough staff and robust staff recruitment procedures were in place. People were able to consent to their care and were supported to be as independent as possible and to make choices about their care and support.
-
Safe
Good
Systems were in place to protect people from the risk of abuse. Staff had undertaken training about safeguarding adults and understood their responsibility for reporting allegations of abuse. Risk assessments set out how to protect people from harm and people were involved in developing these assessments. Staff were punctual and stayed for the full amount of time required. Robust staff recruitment practices were in place.
-
Effective
Good
People were able to consent to the care they received. People's needs were assessed by the provider before the provision of care. However, this assessment process did not always cover needs related to equality and diversity. We discussed this with the provider. They told us they would ensure equality and diversity would be covered in future assessments of people’s needs.
-
Caring
Good
People told us staff were caring and that their independence, choice and control was promoted. Systems backed up this person-centred approach. Staff understood the importance of supporting people in a caring way and were able to explain how they did this.
-
Responsive
Good
People told us they received person-centred support. Staff told us they felt supported by the provider, for example through supervision and team meetings. Staff understood and promoted people’s rights.
