We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. At the time of the assessment, the service was not supporting any autistic people or people with a learning disability, but the provider had regard to ‘Right support, right care, right culture’.

There was clear and effective leadership of the service which helped to ensure people’s needs were met safely and in line with people’s preferences. Care calls were always attended with people and their relatives informed if staff were going to be late. The management team ensured staff with similar values, interests and experiences were matched to people to help them have positive experiences when using the service.

Risks to people’s safety and wellbeing were managed by trained staff. Robust risk assessments and care plans were in place and were regularly reviewed and updated. Staff were recruited safely and robust induction processes were in place to ensure they had the skills and confidence to meet people’s needs. Staff enjoyed their roles and working for the provider and management team.

Staff sought consent and respected people’s right to refuse support. The service was compliant with the requirements of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.Staff worked closely with healthcare professionals to ensure people received the care and treatment they needed, when they needed it.

The provider used technology to ensure the safe running and effective oversight of the service.
