Not everyone who used the service received personal care. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. At the time of the assessment the service was supporting 141 people receiving personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating.

This assessment was initiated based on information received from various sources, in relation to safe care. We found the service to be safe during our assessment. The assessment was carried out remotely and evidence was gathered between 27 March 2025 to 04 June 2025. We spoke with 7 members of staff and 10 relatives and people supported. We found the service to be compliant with the areas we explored. We found people's care needs were risk assessed and care plans provided staff with the information they needed to manage the identified risk. People and their families were consulted about the care provided and were supported to achieve outcomes to improve their health and wellbeing. The service worked well with other health and social care professionals and supported people to achieve good outcomes.

People were protected from the risks of abuse and staff were trusted to keep them safe. Staff had received training in how to safeguard people.

There were enough staff to support people and recruitment checks were robust to ensure staff were suitable to work with vulnerable adults. Staff had the necessary safety checks in place before starting work and completed a full induction. We identified one gap in employment history when reviewing employee records, however the Registered Manager of the service assured us action would be taken to rectify this.

Governance systems were in place to monitor the standard of care people received. People and their relatives’ views had been sought through regular contact and quality monitoring to drive service improvements. Staff views were sought through meetings and regular supervisions.

Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally. The management team were professional and passionate about providing high quality care and this was supported by the systems they had in place.

Medicines were mostly managed in a way that was safe. We found on some occasions that staff had not turned up at the scheduled times when controlled drugs were needed. However, the service had already identified these issues and there was an action plan in place to address any shortfalls. Medication audits were robust and the service had systems in place to identify and rectify errors, minimising future risk for the people using the service.
