Key findings

We carried out this assessment on the 25 September 2026. This service was previously rated as good. We carried out this assessment to confirm whether the rating of good remains accurate. This report does not provide detailed information on areas where we found practice continues to meet a good standard. Instead, our findings focus on any areas where the service needs to improve or where we found exceptional practice.

The service had systems and processes in place to promote people’s safety, wellbeing and quality of care. Safeguarding arrangements were established and staff demonstrated an understanding of their responsibilities, including how to recognise, respond and report concerns. Staff told us they felt confident that any concerns they raised would be taken seriously and appropriately addressed by the registered manager.

They were appropriate arrangements to recording and reviewing accidents and incidents, and staff understood when concerns needed to be escalated to relevant authorities. Risks associated with people’s care and their home environment were identified and assessed, with reviews undertaken to ensure risks remained appropriately managed. People’s care needs were assessed before support commenced and reviewed regularly so that changes in people’s needs were identified and the care provided adjusted accordingly.

Staff spoke positively about the registered manager and described their leadership as supportive, knowledgeable and fair. One staff member said, “I feel very confident in their leadership, the registered manager has years of experience working in care, they are quick and prompt to resolve any issues, calm under pressure, treating everyone equally and respectfully. The registered manager also has a great deal of knowledge which I admire.’’ This feedback indicated that staff valued the registered manager’s experience, approachability and ability to respond effectively when issues arose.

Communication and teamwork were also identified as strengths within the service. Staff described working well together, sharing relevant information and supporting one another. They demonstrated an understanding of each other’s strengths and areas where additional support might be needed. One staff member said, “We are a good team; we are friendly and help each other.’’

The registered manager described a workplace culture based on mutual support and working together. They said, “The culture within the service is about helping and supporting each other.’’ This was reflected in the feedback provided by staff, who described positive relationships, good communications and a willingness to support colleagues.

Staff also demonstrated a strong commitment to the people they supported and described efforts to provide meaningful opportunities and promote independence. One staff member said, “Staff go above and beyond for the people using the service. We always try to find good and meaningful activities for them. Everyone cares about the people using the service.” Another staff member added, “I like to make positive changes in their lives, support them to live as independently as possible and help them to enjoy their activities.’’

People, relatives and staff were encouraged to contribute their views about the service. There were processes in place to gather and respond to feedback and use this to identify areas of ongoing improvement. Staff were provided with training, supervision, competency assessments and continued support to help them carry out their responsibilities safely and effectively, including the safe administration of medicines.

The provider had governance and monitoring systems to oversee the quality and safety of care. Recruitment processes were in place to help ensure appropriate staff were employed, while ongoing staff provided opportunities to maintain and develop their skills. The feedback from staff, particularly in relation to teamwork, communication and management support, demonstrated a workplace where staff felt valued and supported in their roles.
