Safe staffing levels were in place and staff had the training and support to carry out their role. Recruitment was managed safely. There was an established staff team who knew people well and fostered caring and trusting relationships. The service had a positive person-centred culture. Risks to people’s health, safety and wellbeing were assessed and regularly reviewed. Some improvements were required in relation to the management of medicines, but we found people were receiving their medication as prescribed.
People’s health needs were met and the service worked well with stakeholders and other agencies. There were strong links with health and social care professionals. The service was homely, safe and well maintained and there was an ongoing refurbishment plan in place.
Audits and checks were in place to maintain oversight of the service. Governance arrangements had recently been strengthened through more enhanced monitoring and the recruitment of a deputy manager to support the registered manager. The provider and registered manager were accessible and approachable and committed to providing a person-centred, high-quality service.
The provider was previously in breach of legal regulations in relation to good governance, the management of risk and medicines, and staff training. Improvements were found at this assessment, and the provider was no longer in breach of legal regulations. We found the overall quality of the service had improved and the rating had changed from requires improvement to good.
