  1. Safe

    Good

Staff understood their role in safeguarding people and how to raise concerns about people’s safety. Risk assessments had been carried out to identify any risks to people, when providing care and support. Sufficient staff were available to meet people’s needs and a robust recruitment system was in place. Accidents and incidents were recorded in detail, and these were investigated by the manager to prevent or minimise them from happening again. People received support with their medicine which was managed safely. There were systems in place for the monitoring and prevention of infection.

  2. Effective

    Good

People’s needs were assessed before they started to use the service. This was done with the involvement of the person and their relatives and covered areas such as people’s care needs, wishes, and past histories as well as their religious and cultural needs. The management team and staff understood the importance of people having the right to make their own decisions. People were able to make day to day decisions about their lives such as how they were supported or how they want to spend their time. The staff team worked well with other health and social care professionals to ensure the needs of people using the service were fully met. Staff monitored people’s health care needs and made referrals to the appropriate health care professionals when needed.

  3. Caring

    Good

People told us that staff were kind and treated them well. Staff had developed a positive caring relationship with people who used the service and had a good knowledge of people’s individual needs and how they liked to be supported. People were supported to maintain as much independence as possible. Care plans included details on area’s people were independent and areas that they required support. Staff ensured people’s privacy and dignity was respected.

  4. Responsive

    Good

People received care and support that was personalised and responsive to their individual needs and took full account of their background history and personal circumstances. Staff had a good understanding of people’s needs and preferences. The provider was committed to challenging any form of discrimination it encountered. People were able to express their views about the care they received and were given the opportunity to regularly review their care plan if any changes needed to be made.

  5. Well-led

    Good

We found there was effective systems in place to quality assure the services provided, manage risks and drive improvement. People and their relatives were encouraged to contact the registered manager if they had any issues, and this helped to ensure the service ran smoothly. Staff were clear about their roles and responsibilities and had access to policies and procedures to inform and guide them. The management team had good links with a number of health and social care professionals, and this helped to ensure people’s needs were fully met. They undertook regular audits to monitor the quality of the service they provided.
