We carried out this unannounced assessment between 25 April 2025 and 12 May 2025 due to some information of concern we received relating to how people were supported.
People were protected and supported by staff who knew them well. Staff demonstrated an understanding of risks and applied learning from incidents and accidents. People’s healthcare needs were met, with the service maintaining positive working relationships with healthcare professionals. One community professional told us, “I have no concerns with this Care Home which I visit on a regular basis and consider that the staff and team always action my management plans”.
Staffing levels were generally sufficient to meet people’s needs, although some delays occurred during busier periods. However, observations identified times when limited staff presence in the sitting room resulted in people being left without supervision or meaningful engagement. This was discussed with the provider, who implemented immediate staffing increases during peak times across all 7 days and began recruitment.
People were supported to have choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests.
Staff had a good understanding of their roles and responsibilities. Staff enjoyed working for the service and spoke positively about the management team and the support they received.
The environment was clean and well maintained, with regular equipment checks in place to ensure safety. Refurbishment and redecoration works were underway to maintain a homely and welcoming setting.
The registered manager and management team were visible, approachable, and well respected. People said they saw the registered manager regularly and described them as “helpful” and “friendly.” Regular auditing processes were in place, providing effective oversight of all aspects of the home and care delivery. Systems supported people to raise concerns and share suggestions, and quality assurance survey results reflected high levels of satisfaction.
