We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
We found the service was meeting this guidance, which meant people were supported in a way which maximised their dignity, choice and access to their local community.
People lived in a safe, clean environment. There were enough staff available to meet people’s needs. Staff understood their responsibility to protect people from abuse or poor practice and knew how to report any concerns they had.
People’s medicines were managed safely. Staff were recruited safely and had access to the induction, training and support they needed to carry out their roles.
Staff worked well with people’s families and other professionals to achieve good outcomes for people.
Staff kept people’s needs under review, including their health, emotional, and communication needs. Feedback from people’s families was listened to and acted upon. Staff understood the importance of gaining people’s consent to their care.
The registered manager was approachable and involved in the daily life of the home. Staff were encouraged to speak up if they had concerns or suggestions. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities and there was a strong sense of teamwork.
