We assessed the service against the Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture guidance to determine whether people with a learning disability and autistic people were supported to live with dignity, equality, choice, independence and access to everyday community life. We found the provider was meeting these principles.
People received safe, person-centred care and support from staff who were kind, caring and knew them well. Staff treated people with dignity and respect, promoted their independence and encouraged them to make choices about their daily lives. People were supported to achieve positive outcomes and maintain relationships with those who were important to them.
The provider had systems and processes in place to help keep people safe. Risks were assessed and managed appropriately while enabling people to maintain their independence. There were enough suitably skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs, and staff received the training and support required to carry out their roles effectively. Medicines were managed safely, and the premises were clean, comfortable and well maintained.
Care and support were planned around people's individual needs, preferences and goals. Care records provided staff with clear guidance on how to support people consistently and safely. People were supported to access activities and opportunities within the service and in the wider community, helping them to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.
The service worked effectively with relatives, health professionals and other agencies to promote positive outcomes for people. Information was shared appropriately, and staff sought additional support when required to ensure people's needs continued to be met.
There was a positive and inclusive culture throughout the service. The registered manager was visible and approachable and promoted an open environment where people, relatives and staff felt able to provide feedback and raise concerns.
