This service has been in Special Measures since 19 July 2023. The provider demonstrated improvements have been made. The service is no longer rated as inadequate overall or in any of the key questions. Therefore, this service is no longer in Special Measures.

We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. The home had a new management team and staff and relatives told us this had a positive impact. There was enough staff to care for people which meant people’s needs were responded to in a timely way. People were not protected from the risk of financial abuse, but the registered manager had introduced more robust financial procedures once the concern was identified.

There was a registered manager in post. A registered manager is a person who has registered with the CQC to manage the service. This means that they and the provider are legally responsible for how the service operates.

We assessed all the quality statements from the safe, caring and well-led key questions. The overall rating for the service has improved from requires improvement to good.

During the inspection visits, we spoke with 2 people who lived at the service and 1 visiting professional. We spoke with 8 staff on duty who included the registered manager. We carried out observations of care and support. Our observations included the Short Observational Framework for Inspection (SOFI). SOFI is a way of observing care to help us understand the experience of people who could not talk with us. Some people could not directly tell us about their experience; therefore, we observed staff interacting with people to assess whether they received good care.
