What inspectors found

From the Care Quality Commission's inspection report published 29 January 2021. Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Longwood Place provides short break respite care and accommodation for up to eight people who have needs associated with dementia, physical, sensory or learning disabilities. The service will provide short term residential care to a maximum of eight people who have been discharged from hospital with a positive Covid-19 status. There was no one living there at the time of our inspection but the service was ready to support people and we found the following examples of good practice.

Read the rest of CQC's summary

● Staff had completed training about COVID-19 and how to prevent the spread of the virus. ● The service had a policy in place to ensure staff and visitors could enter and exit the building safely and follow procedures to minimise the spread of the infection. ● The provider was working closely with partnership organisations to ensure people would be admitted and discharged safely from the service. ● A full assessment of peoples needs will be carried out which will include information from the family to ensure each person receives care that is personalised and individualised. Peoples routines, likes and preferences will be incorporated where possible into daily care to promote welbeing. ● The service had considered communication for people with hearing difficulties or other communication needs and had plans in plans in place to support people with communication aids. ● People using the service will have access to DVD players and the internet in their rooms. Staff will support people with meaningful activities.

We were assured that this service met good infection prevention and control guidelines as a designated care setting
