We found the service provided safe, effective and person-centred care. Staff used well-established systems to manage safety, including safeguarding, incident reporting and medicines management. These systems supported learning and improvement when things went wrong. Staff worked with health professionals and families to help people receive consistent support. Care plans were detailed, tailored to individual needs and reviewed regularly. Where people needed extra support to understand or take part in decisions, staff used accessible formats and involved advocacy when appropriate.
People were supported to live healthier lives and maintain independence. Staff worked flexibly around people’s routines and helped them take part in community activities and interests. The home was clean, well maintained and adapted to people’s needs, and the provider managed infection risks effectively. Staffing levels and skills matched people’s needs, and staff received training, competency checks and supervision. Leaders promoted an open and inclusive culture, with governance systems to monitor quality and support improvement. The provider was introducing digital tools to strengthen record keeping and improve how the service worked.

We expect providers to support people with a learning disability and autistic people to have the respect, equality, dignity, choice and independence that most people take for granted. We use the Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture guidance when we assess services like this. The service worked in line with these principles by supporting people to make choices about their day-to-day lives, promoting independence, and helping people to be part of their local community. Staff treated people with dignity and respect and supported them to maintain relationships and take part in meaningful activities.
