We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities most people take for granted.
We undertook this assessment to assess the key questions of Effective and Well-led as these key questions were rated requires improvement. At this assessment we found improvements had been made. We rated the service as good in both key questions.
The manager had left recently. The area manager was providing support to the deputy manager in the day to day management of the service, spending 3 days at the home each week. The area manager told us a new manager had been recruited and would come into post when all the provider’s pre-employment checks had been completed.
There was improved consistency in people’s assessments, plans and records as these had been transferred to an electronic format. However, there remained room to improve the day to day recording of people’s welfare and the support offered to them. Improvements had been embedded in the allocation and audit of cleaning tasks, although there remained room for further improvement. There was an improved food safety system.
Staff provided information in a way which people could understand and this helped to make sure people were involved in decisions about their care. There was a positive culture where equality and diversity were encouraged and respected.
