People in care homes receive accommodation and nursing or personal care as a single package under one contractual agreement. CQC regulates both the premises, and the care provided, and both were looked at during this inspection. At the time of our inspection 19 people were living at the service, 3 of whom were in receipt of a regulated activity.
The inspection included an unannounced visit to the service which took place on 8 October 2025 and an announced visit on 10 October 2025.
The inspection was prompted in part by a notification of an incident at the service. Concerns had been raised regarding the provider’s response to this incident. We noted actions had been taken in response to the incident, but the processes in place were not effective.
People were supported by a group of staff who knew them well. Staff were aware of the risks to people, what was important to them and how to support them safely. However, support plans and risks assessments in place were not consistently robust, and the provider’s own audits had failed to identify a number of areas of concern that were identified during the assessment.
The registered manager was responsive to all feedback during the inspection and took immediate action to address the concerns raised.
People, relatives, visitors and staff all spoke of the positive impact the improvements to the care environment had made to people’s lives. They told us people were more inclined to invite loved ones and other visitors to their home since the improvements had been completed.
People’s care needs were regularly reviewed and good communication systems were in place across the home.
