We found people received care from staff who were kind, caring and knew them well. People, relatives and professionals spoke positively about the support provided and the relationships staff had developed with people living at the home. Staff understood people's individual needs and preferences and supported people in a way which promoted their dignity, independence and wellbeing. Care plans and risk assessments reflected people's assessed needs and were reviewed when changes occurred.

People were supported to access healthcare services when required and the provider worked collaboratively with external professionals to help ensure people's needs were met. Staff understood people's health conditions and were able to describe how they supported people safely. People and relatives told us they felt safe living at the service and spoke positively about the responsiveness of staff and management.

The provider promoted a positive and person-centred culture. People described staff as caring and respectful and professionals spoke positively about the leadership within the home. Staff received training relevant to their roles and most staff spoke positively about the support available to them from the management team. Leaders demonstrated a willingness to work collaboratively, seek specialist advice and make improvements when required.

However, improvements were needed to ensure governance systems were consistently effective. The provider's monitoring systems had not identified shortcomings in medicines monitoring processes, and action was required to strengthen oversight and assurance.
