We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
Staff understood how to protect people from harm and abuse. People received individualised support based on their assessed needs. Support was planned, delivered and regularly reviewed in partnership with people, their relatives and relevant healthcare professionals. Support was person-centred and focused on ensuring people had choice and control in their daily lives.People received care and support that was kind and caring. Staff protected people’s right to privacy and ensured they were treated with dignity and respect.
People were able to use communal areas as they wished and to have ‘quiet time’ and privacy for themselves if they wanted to be alone. People were supported by staff to take part in activities both ‘in-house’ and within the local community. Staff enabled people to access healthcare provision and services as needed. Staff communicated with people in ways that met their needs.
Suitable arrangements were in place to ensure staff were trained and newly appointed staff received a robust induction. Staff felt valued and supported by the registered manager and senior management team and received formal supervision and an annual appraisal. We found there were enough staff on duty to meet people’s needs. Risks to people were understood and managed effectively to reduce the likelihood of harm.
The service was well-led and managed. Quality assurance arrangements enabled the provider and registered manager to monitor the quality of the service provided.
