We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it.

The service now had effective contingency plans to ensure there were enough staff to provide consistent care and support to people. Staffing levels enabled people to access their community. The service had effective systems to manage risks people experienced. People were supported to take their medicines safely. Staff received effective training and support to help them do their job well.

People had support plans which reflected their individual needs. The provider worked with health and social care professionals to ensure people had access to the care they needed. People were supported to identify their wishes for the future, including end of life care, and plan out support they needed. Feedback from professional partners was positive about the way the service worked with them to meet people’s needs.

People knew who the management team were and told us they would be able to raise concerns if needed. Governance systems were effective in identifying areas for improvement and ensuring these improvements were made. Staff said they could raise any concerns with the management team and were confident action would be taken as a result.
