We undertook this comprehensive assessment to check on concerns we had received about people’s safety and well-being since the last inspection in January 2020 where the service was rated Good. Since February 2026 the service had been supported by a full time peripatetic manager. A peripatetic manager is a mobile manager who support services in the health and social care sector to cover for absent managers and fill in leadership gaps.
We did not identify any significant issues during this assessment, and the service has retained their rating of Good.
The service was registered before Registering the Right Support policy was introduced. The service has been further developed in line with the principles and values that underpin Registering the Right Support and other best practice guidance. We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. The service was fully compliant with these principles.
During the assessment, there was a positive culture of safety, based on openness and transparency. People received safe care and staff managed risks safely from enough suitably trained staff. Staff were recruited safely. People and staff told us they felt confident to raise any concerns and that these would be responded to by the management team. There was an openness from staff that things had been challenging due to 2 years of management changes. The provider had liaised with external health professionals to provide joined up care and treatment for people. This had promoted safe transitions for people moving between different services. The premises were well maintained. Personal protective equipment (PPE) was used appropriately.
People enjoyed their meals and were supported by staff to follow a healthy lifestyle.
Staff treated people with kindness and compassion, and there was a positive and open culture in the service. With no exception the staff demonstrated a good understanding of the people they supported and ensured that people were happy and fulfilled.
Systems were in place that allowed people, relatives and staff to speak up and have their voices heard. The provider had governance systems in place to identify any improvements required were identified and actioned. Staff felt the management team were approachable, and there were regular opportunities for staff and management to discuss incidents or areas for improvement within the service to ensure lessons were learnt.
