We found the overall quality of the service had improved and the rating at this assessment has changed from requires improvement to good. Safe staffing levels were in place and staff had the training and support to be able to carry out their roles. There was an established and consistent staff team who knew people well and had fostered warm and trusting relationships. Recruitment was managed safely. Risks to people’s health, safety and welfare were assessed and reviewed regularly. The living environment was well maintained, clean and had a homely atmosphere. Some improvements were required in relation to the management of medicines, but we found people were receiving their medicines as prescribed. People’s health needs were met and the service worked proactively with other health and social care agencies. There were provider and registered manager audits in place to check the quality and safety of the service. There was an established and well respected registered manager in place. However, at the start of the assessment we were informed they were leaving the service. A new manager had been recently appointed and there was a short handover time. The management team were responsive to our assessment findings and acted on our feedback promptly.
