This assessment was carried out to review improvements made following a previous breach of legal regulations relating to good governance at our last assessment. At this assessment enough improvements had been made, and the provider was no longer in breach of the regulation.

Improvements were required to the way people’s medicines were managed. The provider took prompt action following the inspection to address this.

Quality assurance systems were generally effective and supported safe, well‑managed care in line with people’s needs and legislation. However, audits relating to medicines and the monitoring of people's care needs required further strengthening to ensure they consistently identified and addressed areas for improvement.

Staff protected people from all forms of abuse and were confident the manager would take action to address and resolve any safety concerns they raised.

Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) were in place as required, and renewal dates of authorisations were monitored.

The facilities and equipment met people’s needs, were mainly clean and any risks identified were mitigated.

Feedback from people, relatives and visitors was actively sought and used to drive ongoing service development.

There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience to care for people. Managers made sure staff received training and regular supervisions to maintain high-quality care.

Staff made sure people understood their care and treatment to enable them to give informed consent. Staff involved relevant people and made decisions in people’s best interests where they did not have capacity. We observed staff responded to people in a timely way.

Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive. Managers were receptive to new ideas. There was a culture of commitment to continuous improvement. There was evidence of positive changes that had been made to the service since our last assessment.
