The inspection was prompted by an incident that occurred at the provider’s other service which is located next door to Tuscany House. This incident indicated potential concerns about the management and culture of the service. This inspection examined those risks. We identified action had been taken to resolve this.
We also followed up on breaches identified at our previous inspection in March 2022. The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulation in relation to person centred care, safe care and treatment and good governance. Improvements were found at this assessment and the provider was no longer in breach of this regulation.
We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ (RSRCRC) guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found the service was meeting the principles of RSRCRC.
Positive changes to documentation and processes had been implemented which had resulted in positive outcomes for people. Staff felt confident in the management team and the changes that had been implemented.
The environment was newly refurbished and fit for purpose. On the whole, medicine management was safe, and care plans were detailed. Risks to people were managed safely by staff who had been appropriately trained.
Staff worked closely with healthcare professionals to maintain and monitor people’s health and wellbeing. Staff were aware of their responsibility to safeguard people from harm and neglect, and to protect people’s rights.Quality governance systems were in place to identify where any improvements could be made, with actions from this being resolved in a timely manner.
