Who the service is for

Herborn Court is a domiciliary care service that supports people to live independently within their own homes. The service provides personal care and support to people living in the local community, enabling them to maintain their independence and remain in familiar surroundings.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulates the personal care provided by the service. This inspection therefore focused on the provision of personal care and the experiences of people receiving that support.

CQC only inspects services provided to people who receive 'personal care', such as assistance with personal hygiene and eating. Where relevant, we also consider the wider social care people receive.

The service provides personal care and support to people who require assistance with daily living activities. At the time of our inspection, nine people were receiving support. Their needs varied and included support for physical frailty, long-term health conditions, and age-related memory loss.

Key findings

We carried out this assessment between the 21 July and the 19 August 2026. This service was previously rated as good. We carried out this assessment to confirm whether the rating of good remains accurate. This report does not provide detailed information on areas where we found practice continues to meet a good standard. Instead, our findings focus on any areas where the service needs to improve or where we found exceptional practice.

Staff demonstrated a good understanding of people's individual needs and received appropriate training, supervision and support to deliver safe, effective and person-centred care. They were able to adapt their approach to reflect individual preferences, promote independence and respond to changing needs.

Care plans and risk assessments were reviewed regularly to ensure support remained appropriate and responsive. Staff worked in partnership with healthcare professionals, relatives and other agencies to promote positive outcomes and support people's wellbeing.

Leaders demonstrated a clear understanding of their regulatory responsibilities and promoted an open, inclusive and community-focused culture. People were encouraged to maintain relationships, access community resources and make choices about their daily lives, while staff felt supported and understood the service's values.

Effective safeguarding arrangements were in place to protect people from abuse, neglect and avoidable harm. Staff understood how to recognise, report and escalate concerns, and safeguarding responsibilities were reinforced through ongoing training and supervision.

Robust governance and quality assurance systems helped monitor the safety and quality of the service. Regular audits, oversight activities and feedback from people, relatives and staff were used to identify improvements and drive service development.

Appropriate risk management and emergency planning arrangements supported the safe delivery of care and continuity of service. Risks were regularly reviewed to ensure people received timely support while maintaining their independence.

The provider worked in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Staff understood the importance of consent and supported people to make their own decisions wherever possible, ensuring their rights, choices and preferences remained central to the care they received.
