We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We considered this guidance as there were people using the service who have a learning disability and who are autistic.
Care plans and risk assessments provided person-centred guidance for staff to keep people safe. Medicines were managed safely. People and relatives were involved decision making and people were consulted about their care, and their views were respected. The provider worked well with professionals. People were supported by a consistent team of staff who knew them well and treated them with kindness and compassion. Staff felt happy at work, appreciated and were complimentary about the management of the service. One staff member told us they, “Found it to be a welcoming and supportive place to work.” The culture was focused on encouraging people’s independence and enabling people to live full lives.
