At the time of the assessment, the service was not used by anyone with a learning disability or an autistic person. However, we assessed the care provision under ‘Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture’ statutory guidance, as it is registered as a specialist service for this population group.

Staff promoted people’s independence and encouraged access to the community where possible. People were supported by staff who knew them well and care was individualised to people’s needs.

Staff had received a range of training suitable to people’s needs. Staff had been recruited safely and received supervision and support. The service was flexible, for example if people needed to change their visit times this was accommodated.

There were a range of governance systems in place to monitor the quality of the service. Improvements had been made following the previous inspection, in relation to oversight of visit times. The registered manager worked well in partnership with other care groups and providers, and was committed to learning, improvement and innovation.

We found some risks had not been fully assessed, for example risks relating to choking and blood thinning medicines. However, staff understood these risks and knew how to support people to remain safe.
