What inspectors found
From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 3 November 2026 (assessment visit 7 September 2026). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.
This assessment took place between 7 and 13 October 2026. Sunlight Care Sutton provides personal care and support to people living in their own homes. Not everyone who used the service received personal care. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. At the time of this assessment, 47 people were receiving personal care and support from the service.
We assessed the service against ‘right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

The provider had systems in place to protect people from the risk of abuse. Risks to people had been assessed, and staff had access to information about how to manage these safely. Staff received training and supervision to help them meet people’s diverse needs and develop their skills and knowledge. People received support from a regular team of staff wherever possible. The provider had robust recruitment processes. Infection risks were managed well, and staff followed current practice.
People’s needs were assessed, and their choices and preferences informed their care and support. Care was reviewed with people to ensure it continued to meet their needs. Staff supported people to maintain their health and wellbeing and achieve their desired outcomes. People received their medicines when they needed them. Staff supported people to understand their care and give informed consent.
People were supported to have choice and control over their lives and maintain their independence. They received information in ways that met their needs and preferences. People were treated fairly and equally and received care and support that reflected their individual needs. Staff understood people’s rights and how to uphold them.
At the time of this assessment, the service was led by 2 experienced registered managers. People and staff were encouraged to raise concerns, which were listened to and acted on. Staff were valued and supported with their wellbeing. The provider worked in partnership with other professionals to support positive outcomes for people.
Governance systems were in place to monitor the safety and quality of the service and identify improvements. However, some governance arrangements were not always effective. Checks had not identified that a small number of staff were not completing care records in a timely manner after each care call. The provider took immediate action following our site visit and met with staff to reinforce their responsibilities for maintaining timely and accurate records. We also found that required information had not been submitted to CQC without delay. We were assured this was an oversight, and the provider took immediate action following our visit to introduce additional checks to support timely submission of required notifications.
