Key findings

We carried out this assessment on the 09 October 2026.This service was previously rated as good. We carried out this assessment to confirm whether the rating of good remains accurate. This report does not provide detailed information on areas where we found practice continues to meet a good standard. Instead, our findings focus on any areas where the service needs to improve or where we found exceptional practice.

The provider had established effective systems to help protect people from the risk of abuse. Staff understood their safeguarding responsibilities and knew how to recognise and report concerns. Staff were confident about raising concerns and told us they were assured that these would be acted upon appropriately by the management team.

Staff understood the process for recording accidents and incidents and escalating concerns when necessary. Risks to people, including those associated with their home environments, were identified, assessed and regularly reviewed to help ensure people received safe care. People’s needs were assessed before care commenced and reviewed regularly to ensure the care provided continued to meet their individual needs.

Staff spoke positively about the work environment and described Your Life (Poole) as supportive place to work. One staff member said, “I feel that Your Life (Poole) is more than just a workplace. For me, we are part of a community, with staff and homeowners building relationships and getting to know each other as individuals.’’ Another member of staff said, “ Absolutely, we are very lucky at Your Life (Poole) we have a wonderful team of women, who support each other. They provide a safe and supportive work environment.’’

Staff also spoke positively about the management of the service, describing the management team as supportive and knowledgeable. One member of staff told us, “The registered manager and estate manager make a brilliant leadership team at Your Life (Poole), offering exceptional support to staff and homeowners alike, and I feel fortunate to work under them.’’ Another staff member said, “I feel that [name of the estate manager] is extremely supportive as a manager. Also approachable, helpful and willing to provide guidance whenever needed. I feel reassured knowing that I can raise questions or concerns and that support is available.’’ Another staff member shared a similar view, saying, “[Name of the estate manager] is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. [Name of the estate manager] is approachable, understanding, empathetic and compassionate and I feel fully supported by and would have no issue confiding in them. Between the 2 of them, we have a strong management structure in place, and I have confidence in their ability to lead and support the team.’’

The management team described a strong commitment to delivering high-quality care and maintaining a positive workplace culture. They told us, “We are very proud of our team. They support 1 another and provide support for management.’’

People, relatives and staff were encouraged to share feedback about the service, and the provider had systems in place to use this information to support continuous improvement. Staff received the training, supervision, competency assessments and ongoing support to carry out their roles safely and effectively, including the safe administration of medicines.

Governance systems, recruitment processes and regular management oversight supported the delivery of staff and person-centred care. The positive feedback from staff, alongside the provider’s focus on effective leadership, teamwork and continuous improvement, demonstrated a culture in which people and staff were valued and supported.
