Read the rest of CQC's summary
CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided.
We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
At the time of the assessment, the service was not supporting any autistic people or people with a learning disability, but the provider had regard to ‘Right support, right care, right culture’.
Processes were in place to protect people from the risk of abuse and harm. Any risks to people were identified. Measures in place to keep people safe used the least restrictive approach.
Staff were recruited safely and people were supported by a core team of skilled and experienced staff. People were involved in the recruitment process and had a choice in which staff supported them.
People received medicines in a safe way, from trained and competent staff. Systems were in place for reporting any accidents and incidents and learning from them.
People’s support needs were assessed from the outset to help ensure their choices were fully understood and respected.
People’s care plans contained detailed guidance for staff on how to provide bespoke care and support to people. Care plans were reviewed regularly to ensure care remained both relevant and effective.
People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice. People and family members were involved in decisions about care and support at every opportunity.
People were treated with kindness and compassion, and their privacy, dignity and independence were promoted and respected. People were supported by staff who knew their needs well. Staff had developed strong relationships with people and their significant others.
Processes were in place to ensure people and their significant others were able to express their views and opinions, in a variety of ways.
The leadership of the service was underpinned by a culture which was committed to delivering high quality, safe and person-centred care. Governance processes were used to help identify any shortfalls in practice and monitor and improve the quality and safety of the service.
Both leaders and staff worked seamlessly with other external professionals, to help deliver the best possible care for people.
