The registered manager led the service and managed its day-to-day operation. The agency employed 13 care workers and used a small team of regular staff to provide continuity. Staff supported people with personal care, medicines prompts, meals, shopping, appointments and household tasks, according to each person’s agreed care arrangements.
The provider received referrals through local authority arrangements and direct payments. It assessed people before care started, agreed care plans and risk assessments, and introduced a main care worker with cover for leave or sickness. The service worked with GPs, district nurses, pharmacies, hospital teams, commissioners and other professionals when this formed part of a person’s care.
The provider checked the service through care reviews, staff supervision, spot checks, audits, surveys and direct contact with people. Leaders remained closely involved because the service was small. The assessment considered people’s feedback, care records, workforce records, professional feedback and information from the registered manager.
