We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’. This guidance supported judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choice, independence and access to local communities that most people take for granted.

People received exceptional care that was based on their assessed needs and delivered individually to them. We found that even though people only used the service for short periods of time, the consistent, person centred and proactive support the staff provided, promoted independence and positive outcomes that changed the quality of people’s lives when they returned to their own homes and families. This also resulted in improved experiences for people’s families.

The positive vision, values and culture of the organisation were embraced by everyone who worked there. The impact of this culture and the extraordinary support given to people was valued by them, their relatives, staff and other professionals.

Inclusive recruitment and a well supported, well trained and diverse workforce ensured people’s needs were consistently met in an exceptionally kind, caring and person centred manner. People were at the centre of their care, and this had been developed alongside them with input from relatives and professionals.

The environment had been adapted and equipment provided to consider the range of people who were supported. Medicines were managed safely. The principles of the Mental Capacity Act were understood and safeguarding procedures were in place.

There were systems in place to monitor the quality of the service, ensuring the service progressed, that lessons were learnt and that a positive culture was adopted.

Staff spoke positively about the support they received and the environment they worked in, they felt supported and encouraged by leaders and each other.
