This was a planned inspection based on the length of time since the last rated inspection.

Systems were in place to safeguard people from abuse. The local authority safeguarding team confirmed there were no ongoing safeguarding concerns.

Records did not always demonstrate that medicines were administered as prescribed. Immediate action was taken to address the shortfalls. We discussed with the registered manager about ensuring medicines records were kept under review to ensure best practice guidance was followed

Systems were in place to monitor and assess risks. Electronic risk assessments were completed to document all areas of risk such as moving and handling and falls. We did not observe any unsafe practices during our visits to the home.

The provider valued their workforce. Staff gave positive feedback about working at the home; whilst they said more staff would be appreciated, they told us they worked as a team to meet the needs of people. Most of the staff had worked at the home for a number of years and staff turnover was low.

An effective governance system was in place which enabled the management and delivery of good quality care and support.
