What inspectors found
From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 19 June 2025 (assessment visit 26 March 2025). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.
The Hollies Residential Home is a residential care home providing personal care to older adults, some of whom were living with dementia. At the time of the assessment the service supported 15 people. The last rating for The Hollies Residential Home was requires improvement published on 22 January 2020. At the last inspection there were breaches of regulation relating to staffing and governance. At this assessment we found the service was no longer in breach of the regulation relating to staffing but found they remained in breach of the regulation relating to governance. We also found the service was in breach of the regulation relating to safe care. The overall rating for this service remains as requires improvement. We found risks relating to the environment had not always been managed well. We found areas of the home to be in poor condition, which meant areas would be difficult to clean. We fed this back to the provider who told us they were working hard to try and rectify the issues with the environment. We found improvements were needed to ensure medicines were always managed safely. The manager had implemented new systems and processes to ensure staff were recruited safely. Risks relating to people’s individual needs were assessed and risk reduction measures applied. Governance arrangements were in place and the manager had oversight of the service and people’s needs. However, we found provider oversight was not effective. This meant areas for improvement had not been highlighted or acted upon in a timely manner. There was no formal service improvement plan in place, which meant there was a risk, areas for improvement could get missed. We found external agencies such as the local authority and the fire service had found issues which prompted the provider to act, however, internal processes had not identified these areas for improvement. The manager was approachable, and staff supported people in a kind and caring manner.
