What inspectors found

From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 16 December 2025 (assessment visit 4 September 2025). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Date of assessment: 9 September to 7 October 2025. Daleside Nursing Home is a care home registered to provide personal and nursing care for a maximum of 43 people. At the time of the assessment, 33 people were living in the home. Most of the people who lived at the service were older people, including people living with dementia. We undertook this assessment as we had received concerns about the care some people had received. We took enforcement action following our last assessment when we found the provider was in breach of the legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment, consent to care, dignity and respect, good governance, and safe recruitment. This assessment enabled us to review if the provider was now complying with legal regulations. We found sufficient improvements had been made which meant the provider was no longer in breach of the legal regulations, however, some work was still needed to build upon and embed the improvements. Care plans had been reviewed and rewritten. However, further improvements were needed to ensure care plans contained sufficient guidance for staff to meet people’s needs and manage risks and to ensure records were updated in a timely way following a change in people’s needs. The service was generally clean and tidy however further improvements were needed to improve parts of the environment and to ensure the routine cleaning of equipment. People were protected from the risk of abuse and systems to record, report and review events which occurred within the service had improved. Staff received the training they needed to support people safely and were safely recruited. Staff spoke positively about working for the provider and partners who worked with the staff team described effective working relationships.

There was an increased risk that people could be harmed.

  2. Caring

    No rating

Caring – this means we looked for evidence that the provider involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. At our last assessment we rated this key question requires improvement. At this assessment the rating has remained requires improvement. This meant people did not always feel well-supported, cared for or treated with dignity and respect.

  3. Well-led

    No rating

Well-led – this means we looked for evidence that service leadership, management and governance assured high-quality, person-centred care; supported learning and innovation; and promoted an open, fair culture. At our last assessment we rated this key question requires improvement. At this assessment the rating has remained requires improvement. This meant the management and leadership was inconsistent. Leaders and the culture they created did not always support the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care.
