What inspectors found
From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 27 August 2026 (assessment visit 19 August 2026). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.
We carried out our assessment of this service between 14 July to 17 August 2026. We visited the service on 6 August 2026. Stratford Road is a residential care home supporting autistic people and people with a learning disability. At the time of the inspection, 2 people were living in the service. Each person had their own self-contained flat within the service.
We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and access to communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is a guidance Care Quality Commission (CQC) follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people which providers must adhere to.

The last rating for this service was published in May 2026 and was rated as ‘requires improvement’. This assessment was carried out following up on actions we told the provider to take at the last inspection. For those quality statements not inspected, we used the ratings awarded at the last inspection to calculate the overall rating. Following this assessment, the service was rated good.
The provider was previously in breach of a legal regulation in relation to good governance and a warning notice was issued. We found improvements had been made at this assessment and the provider was no longer in breach of legal regulation which meant the warning notice was removed.
We found unnecessary restrictions imposed on a person’s environment had been removed with a solution found which was less restrictive and kept the person safe. Governance systems were robust and up to date audits around fire safety had recently been undertaken which highlighted current risks which the provider had acted upon.
Care plans and risk assessments accurately reflected the support people needed which kept them safe whilst maintaining their independence. People’s capacity had been assessed which was reflected in their care plans, capacity assessments which followed the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Medicines were safely stored in locked cabinets which minimised risk and there were audit processes in place which ensured continued safety around all aspects of medicines management.
There was a permanent manager now in place since our last visit and they told us they would be registering with the CQC.
