What inspectors found

From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 9 January 2025 (assessment visit 16 July 2024). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.

Beaumont House is a ‘residential care home’ providing nursing and personal care support to older adults some of whom were living with dementia. At the time of the assessment, the service was supporting 43 people. Beaumont House was last rated Good (published 6 May 2021). The report was published following CQC’s old inspection approach using Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs), prompts and ratings characteristics. This assessment has been completed following the Care Quality Commission (CQC) new approach to assessment; Single Assessment Framework (SAF). We assessed a total of 12 statements from the safe, caring, responsive and well-led key questions. The scores for these areas have been combined with scores based on the key question ratings from the last inspection. Our overall rating remains good.

  1. Safe

    Good

People and those important to them were supported to understand safeguarding and how to raise concerns when they did not feel safe. Staff understood their duty to protect people from abuse and knew how and when to report any concerns they had to managers. Safety risks to people were managed inconsistently as care plans had not always been updated. Some care plans were detailed while others were not. There were enough staff to support people with their needs and staff were recruited safely. Medicines were managed safely. The home was clean and well maintained. All of the quality statements in safe were included this assessment.

  2. Caring

    Good

People were supported to have choice and control and make decisions about how their support was provided. Staff ensured people’s dignity was not compromised and supported people kindly and with compassion. Kindness, compassion and dignity was the only quality statement looked at under caring during this assessment.

  3. Responsive

    Good

People received person-centred care and support from staff who knew them well. Person-centred care was the only quality statement looked at under Responsive during this assessment.

  4. Well-led

    Good

There were clear and effective governance, management, and accountability arrangements. Staff felt well supported by the management team and there was an open and honest culture. Systems in place promoted quality improvement. The registered manager was aware of their legal responsibilities. Information was used effectively to monitor and improve the quality of care. We only looked at 3 quality statements during this assessment in this key question.
