We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
People were kept safe through clear risk assessments, well-managed care plans, and responsive incident handling. Risks such as falls, choking, and skin breakdown were identified and mitigated with appropriate controls. Staff understood safeguarding procedures and infection prevention protocols, and medication was administered safely.
Care was effective and based on best practice. Staff were trained in complex care areas including spinal injury, bowel care, and assisted cough techniques. People’s health needs were assessed using recognised tools, and care plans were regularly reviewed. Staff worked well together and communicated effectively with families and professionals. People were supported to live healthier lives and maintain independence wherever possible.
Staff treated people with kindness and compassion. Care was delivered with dignity and respect, and individual preferences were consistently upheld. People were supported to make choices about their care, and staff responded promptly to changing needs. The workforce felt supported and valued, with access to training and development opportunities.
Care was responsive and tailored to people’s needs. Care plans were person-centred and included goals, routines, and contingency arrangements. The service supported people with a range of needs, including physical disabilities, autism, and learning disabilities. Communication tools and accessible formats were used to support understanding, and people were involved in planning their care.
Leadership was strong and inclusive. Managers were described as approachable and supportive, and governance systems were in place to monitor quality and safety. Audits were completed regularly and used to drive improvement. Staff felt confident to speak up, and the provider promoted a culture of learning and continuous development. The service worked well with families and external professionals, and people experienced positive outcomes regardless of their background or needs.
