We identified areas for improvement related to how staff documented incidents where people communicated distress, assessed mental capacity, and ensuring care plans and assessments were always consistent. We did not find this had impacted people. The provider was receptive to our feedback and was able to evidence immediate improvement or assure us of planned actions they would take.
People were safeguarded from the risk of abuse. Medicines and risks to people's health and safety were well managed. The environment was safe and clean. Staff were recruited safely, received training relevant to their roles and received regular supervision. Staff felt able to raise concerns with leaders. When the service had identified changes to people's health and care needs, they worked with external health professionals and sought medical advice appropriately. There was a positive person-centred culture where learning was embraced within the service. A staff member said, “Leaders do encourage me to speak up, about day-to-day things and educate staff on what is the best practice.”
