What inspectors found
From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 8 September 2026 (assessment visit 30 June 2026). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.
This assessment took place between 20 July to 10 August 2026. We visited the service on 20 and 22 July 2026. Westley Court Care Home is a nursing home which provides nursing and personal care for up to 33 people. There were 25 people living at the service at the time of our visit. The service providers support to younger adults, people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities.
At our previous assessment, we identified a breach of the legal regulation relating to good governance. While improvements had been made since the previous assessment, governance arrangements required further strengthening to ensure they operated effectively. Existing monitoring and auditing processes had not always been sufficiently robust to identify concerns, drive timely action or provide effective oversight of the service. During our visit, we identified environmental safety concerns that had not been recognised through the provider's own monitoring systems. This demonstrated that further improvements were needed to ensure governance systems consistently identified risks, monitored the quality and safety of the service, and supported appropriate action when concerns were identified.
Following feedback during our assessment, the provider responded promptly to the concerns identified. They provided written assurances detailing the actions already taken and the improvements being implemented to strengthen oversight and quality assurance arrangements at the service and across other services within the organisation. This demonstrated the provider's commitment to learning and continuous improvement. The actions taken, together with the improvements made during the assessment period, meant the provider was no longer in breach of the legal regulation relating to good governance.
However, as many of the systems and processes were newly introduced and not yet fully embedded, we will review their effectiveness and sustainability at our next assessment.
Medicines were managed safely, and people received their medicines as prescribed. People were supported to access healthcare services when needed, helping to ensure their health needs were monitored and addressed appropriately. Care plans were in place and mostly contained person-centred information that reflected people's individual needs and preferences. Staff demonstrated a good understanding of people's needs and the risks associated with their care, enabling them to provide appropriate support. Staff spoke positively about working at the service and felt it was a good place to work.
