What inspectors found
From the Care Quality Commission's assessment published 7 August 2025 (assessment visit 2 January 2025). Quoted under the Open Government Licence.
Date of assessment: 2 June 2025 to 30 June 2025.
Ingleby Care Home is a care home registered for accommodation for people who require nursing or personal care. The home provides care for older adults, some of whom may be living with a dementia. It is also registered to support people with a learning disability and autistic people. We have not assessed the service against ‘Right Support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make a judgement about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. It was confirmed that staff were not supporting anyone whose primary need was associated with a learning disability or autism.

Ingleby Care Home is registered to accommodate up to 56 people. At the time of the inspection 24 people were resident.
At the last inspection in October 2024, we rated the home requires improvement with 4 breaches of legal regulation in relation to the safe management of medicines, governance and oversight, person-centred care and processes in relation to the Duty of Candour and notifiable safety incidents.
Whilst sufficient improvements had been made to meet 3 of the breaches, there remained a breach in relation to good governance as the provider had not made sufficient progress in relation to assessing, monitoring and improving the quality of the service. This related to maintaining accurate and complete records for people and ensuring staff received appropriate support and appraisal. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to some of the concerns found at this assessment.
There had not been a registered manager in post since December 2023. Since then, there had been several managers involved in the running of the home, including peripatetic home managers and regional managers, none of whom registered with the commission which is a condition of the providers registration. This is being addressed with the provider outside of the inspection process.
Staff knew people well, and said they felt supported by the senior care staff and deputy manager. They worked well together to ensure people’s needs were met. There was no evidence people, or their legal representatives were involved in planning their care and managing risks. Some care plans and risk management plans lacked detail and risks relating to one person’s health condition had not been assessed.

At our last assessment we rated this key question inadequate. At this assessment the rating has changed to requires improvement. This meant the management and leadership was inconsistent. Leaders and the culture they created did not always support the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care.
There had been no registered manager since December 2023. Several managers had been involved in the management of the home since that time. Improvements had been made in relation to good governance.
